In FIREkit, Record profit is used to reflect passive income or capital changes on an asset, such as dividends.

🛠️ Here’s how:

  1. Open your Shares asset.

  2. Click on the Three dots button → Record profit.

  3. Enter the received amount into the Amount field.

  4. Select the date in the Date field.

  5. Add a comment (e.g., # dividends) for clarity.

  6. Select Transfer profit if the income was received in another asset (like a bank or cash) — this works like a Record profit + Transfer, useful when you don’t want to capitalize the original asset but still want to reflect the income for analytics.

  7. Click the Confirm button.

For now, we recommend manually tracking your dividends on a monthly basis, since FIREkit does not associate dividends with specific shares. Use tags in comments to group similar transactions for calculations and searches (e.g. #dividends).

🟩 How to track bond payments?

Bond payments (also called coupons) are the income you receive for holding a bond. You can track them in FIREkit using a Record profit transaction for the whole asset.

🛠️ Here’s how:

  1. Open your Bond asset.

  2. In the Tickers table, click the Three dots next to the bond → Record coupon.

  3. If available, we’ll auto-fill the Amount (coupon × quantity), Date, and Comment fields.

  4. Adjust the details if needed.

  5. If the money was received into another asset (e.g., a cash account), enable Transfer profit.

  6. Click the Confirm button.

Tip: You can also track the payment manually by opening the asset and choosing the Record profit menu.

🟩 How to track bond buybacks?

Bond buybacks (also called redemptions) happen when the issuer repurchases the bond before or at maturity. You can track them in FIREkit using a Record sale transaction.

🛠️ Here’s how:

  1. Open your Bond asset.

  2. In the Tickers table, click the Three dots next to the bond → select Record redemption.

  3. We’ll auto-fill the Ticker, Quantity, Price, Date, and Comment if available.

  4. Enter commission (if any) into the Commission field.

  5. Click the Confirm button.

🟩 How to track stock splits?

Stock splits occur when a company increases the number of its shares, reducing the price per share without changing the total value. FIREkit doesn’t track stock splits automatically, but you can overcome this by using a Record purchase transaction at a zero price.

🛠️ Here’s how:

  1. Open your Shares asset

  2. In the Tickers table, click the Three dots next to the split stock → select Record purchase

  3. In the Quantity field, add the number of new shares resulting from the split. For example, if you had 5 shares and the split was 1‑for‑4, you need 3 additional shares for each existing share: 3 × 5 = 15.

  4. Set the Price to $0 so the cost basis remains unchanged.

  5. Click the Confirm button.

🟩 How to track stock spin-offs?

Stock spin-offs occur when a company creates a new independent company and distributes shares of the new company to existing shareholders. FIREkit doesn’t track spin-offs automatically, but you can record them using Record purchase transactions at a zero price.

🛠️ Here’s how:

  1. Open your Shares asset.

  2. Click Add ticker and add the new company’s ticker.

  3. Select the Ticker of the spin-off company.

  4. Add the quantity of new shares to the Quantity field.

  5. Set the Price to $0 so the cost basis remains unchanged.

  6. Click the Confirm button.

If the parent company’s share count was reduced as part of the spin-off, use Record sale at $0 to adjust the quantity.

🟩 How to track crypto staking?

Crypto staking rewards add to your holdings over time. FIREkit doesn’t track them automatically, but you can record each reward using Record purchase transactions.

🛠️ Here’s how:

  1. Open your Crypto asset.

  2. Click the Three dots button next to the staked token → select Record purchase.

  3. Enter the quantity of staking rewards in the Quantity field.

  4. Set the Price to $0 so the cost basis remains unchanged.

  5. Click the Confirm button.

Repeat this process for each reward to keep your balance up to date.

🟩 How to track rental payments?

🛠️ Here’s how:

  1. Open your asset.

  2. Click on the Three dots button → Record profit.

  3. Enter the received amount into the Amount field.

  4. Select the date in the Date field.

  5. Add a comment (e.g., # rental payments) for clarity.

  7. Click the Confirm button.

🟩 How do I convert an existing Custom Asset into a Custom Ticker?

If you already have a Custom Asset — real estate, a business, or any other investment — and want to track changes in its value over time, convert it into a Custom Ticker. FIREkit will build a price history and calculate returns just like it does for regular stocks.

Example: Apartment in Ternopil

  1. Open the "Apartment in Ternopil" asset.

  2. In the Tickers section, find the "Track value changes" banner and click Set Up.

  3. The New Ticker panel will open:

    • Ticker name — filled in automatically. Change it if needed.

    • Quantity — enter 1.

    • Price per unit — enter the initial value of the apartment, e.g. 100,000.

    • Transaction date and time — the date you purchased the apartment.

    • Current price per unit — current market price (optional; if not specified, FIREkit will use the initial price).

  4. Click Create Ticker.

After confirmation, FIREkit will automatically create three transactions:

All three transactions appear immediately in the asset's transaction history.

The Tickers section will now show an entry for your apartment. Going forward, update the price via the three-dot menu (⋮) next to the ticker in the asset → Revalue, or via Profile → My Custom Tickers → Revalue. Returns and analytics will be recalculated automatically.

🟩 How do I revalue an asset?

To update the current value of an asset, use the Revalue function — available for any Custom Ticker. FIREkit will automatically recalculate returns and save the new price in the ticker's Price History.

If your asset doesn't have a Custom Ticker yet — set up value tracking first: How do I convert a Custom Asset into a Custom Ticker? (link — add after publication)

Via the asset:

  1. Open the asset.

  2. In the Tickers section, click the three-dot menu (⋮) next to the ticker.

  2. Select My Custom Tickers.

  3. Click on the ticker you need.

  4. Via the three-dot menu (⋮), select Revalue.

  5. Enter the new price and confirm.

🟩 How do I track multiple objects within a single Custom Asset?

If your Custom Asset consists of several separate items or holdings — you can create a Custom Ticker for each one. This is convenient for collections, pension funds, or any portfolio of diverse objects.

Example A: LEGO Sets

You have a "LEGO Sets" asset and several sets with different prices and currencies. Each set is tracked separately.

Create a ticker for each set:

  1. Open the "LEGO Sets" asset.

  2. In the Tickers section, click Create Ticker.

  3. Enter a name, e.g. Iron Man Set.

  4. Specify the quantity, price per unit, and purchase date.

  5. If needed, enter the current price per unit (if it differs from the purchase price).

  6. Click Create Ticker.

  7. Repeat for LEGO StarWars and LEGO Dune.

Each set will appear as a separate row in the table — with its own current price, invested amount, and share in the asset.

Example B: Pension Funds or REIT Funds

You have a "Pension Funds" asset with two holdings: "Private Fund 1" and "REIT Fund 2". The price per unit is different for each.

  1. Open the "Pension Funds" asset.

  2. Click Create Ticker.

  3. Fill in the details for the first holding:

    • Ticker name — Private Fund 1

    • Quantity — 50

    • Price per unit — 1,000 UAH (purchase price)

    • Current price per unit — 100,000 UAH

    • Click Create Ticker.

  4. Repeat for the second holding:

    • Ticker name — REIT Fund 2

    • Quantity — 25

    • Price per unit — 45,000 UAH

    • Current price per unit — 50,000 UAH

    • Click Create Ticker.

Both holdings will appear in the tickers table with their current value and returns.
